This national workshop is being hosted and organized by the Maternal, Infant, Child and Youth Research Network (MICYRN) to be held following the May 25-27 Canadian Society of Pharmacology & Therapeutics Meeting in Montreal in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.
The intent is to explore structural models, examine issues, and determine opportunities, with a view to developing plans to enable Canadian investigators to conduct and be engaged in efficient, high quality clinical trials nationally and beyond. An expected outcome is to provide direction to MICYRN on priorities to address, and assign tasks to targeted groups.
The event will commence with a reception at 7:00 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m. on Friday May 27 and proceed until early afternoon on Sunday May 29. All meals and accommodations will be provided, and transportation to and from the workshop venue is currently being organized via car-pooling and shuttles. Please provide your itineraries and logistic information to the conference organizer as soon as possible.
Workshop Venue
The workshop will take place at the Auberge West Brome, West Brome, Quebec. All participants should meet at the Auberge West Brome to register, be assigned their accommodations for the weekend, and to enjoy a sumptuous seafood buffet with friends and colleagues.
The program begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, following a 7:30 a.m. breakfast at the Auberge West Brome. The workshop sessions will conclude at 4:30 p.m., and then all participants and accompanying persons are invited to a dinner hosted by Stuart MacLeod and Nancy McCullough at their home in Abercorn.
Accommodation
Please note that participants will be staying in more than one location. Besides the Auberge West Brome, accommodations have been reserved for workshop participants at three lovely bed and breakfasts in the area. These are about a 10-minute drive from the Auberge West Brome. All details may be found on the Accommodation page.
Transportation
On Your Own
If you are driving by car on your own to the Auberge West Brome, you may plan to arrive any time after 3:00 p.m. on the afternoon of Friday, May 27. The Auberge is located roughly 1.5 hours south-east of Montreal.
We hope that you may be able to assist us by taking one of your colleagues in your car for the weekend. Car-pooling is needed for Friday, May 27 to chauffeur participants to West Brome; on Saturday, May 28 to the hosted dinner in Abercorn; and on Sunday, May 29 back to Montreal (downtown or to the airport).
Via Shuttle
Please be aware that due to lack of demand there is no longer a motor coach. We are endeavoring to replace the coach with smaller shuttle vehicles and to transport participants with those who are driving cars down to West Brome for the weekend.
Here is the tentative shuttle schedule:
Friday, May 27
5:15 p.m.: pick up at Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport, Montreal; exact location to be determined
6:00 p.m.: pick up at Hilton Bonaventure Hotel (Montreal)
7:30 p.m.: arrival at Auberge West Brome for dinner
Sunday, May 29
2:00 p.m.: pick up at Auberge West Brome
4:00 p.m.: drop off at Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport (Montreal)
We are asking everyone to help us by providing travel itineraries and cell phone contact information so that we can make sure that everyone's weekend experience is a good one.
Thank you for your cooperation!
